Shelby Township’s Christmas Aglow

On Thursday, December 4 Shelby Township hosted “Christmas Aglow” on the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds.  Despite the cold weather attendance was around 500, and the mood was festive and fun.  The evening began with the invocation by Reverend George Spencer from New Hope Church and caroling with the band and choir from Eisenhower High School.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived to light the tree and receive the key to Shelby Township.  In addition to members of the township Board of Trustees, special appearances were made by Frosty, Rudolph, the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat.

Visitors enjoyed cider, coffee and cookies, as well as a bonfire with a marshmallow roast.  There were also horse-drawn wagon rides on the grounds, a craft tent for children to make Christmas crafts, and Santa visited children in the Andrews’ Schoolhouse Museum.

Our volunteer photographers Gary and Ronda Leideker recorded the evening for us with the wonderful photos below.
