A diverse assortment of animals and a wide variety of plant-life make their home on the over 870 acres of River Bends Park. This land is also rich in history. For example, did you know that the Peter Lerrich Farm was once located in a section of what is now River Bends Park and was also a stop on the Underground Railroad?  Springhill Farm, the training camp for boxing legend Joe Louis was also located on this land, as was a site for Nike Missiles in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
